On 19 October 2026, Lisbon welcomed Royal Caribbean’s Liberty of the Seas during a port call on its 15-night crossing from Southampton, England, to Galveston, Texas.

DLN Travel joined a group of more than 40 travel agents and consultants on board to get to know the ship first-hand. It was an opportunity to explore its spaces, soak up the atmosphere and gain insights that help us advise clients dreaming of a holiday at sea.

Royal Promenade: a little town on board

Our visit began on the Royal Promenade, an indoor avenue lined with shops, cafés and restaurants, inviting you to take your time and wander.

It is one of those places where you almost forget you are on a ship. Between a coffee stop, a conversation and the discovery of another corner, you begin to see just how many possibilities a sea day can hold.

A dining room that makes you look up

Next came the Main Dining Room, where our first instinct was to look up.

Spread across three levels, the room is striking in both scale and atmosphere. A magnificent central chandelier extends between the floors, lending the space an elegant feel. It is easy to picture a special dinner here after a day exploring somewhere new.

Our group enjoyed lunch in the Windjammer, in a more relaxed setting. The buffet offered a wide variety of dishes for different tastes — and a dessert selection that deserved a visit of its own. A delicious pause before we continued exploring.

Wellbeing with the sea in view

In the gym, the view was a highlight. Exercising with the sea in front of you gives a familiar routine a different feel and makes it easy to imagine starting the day with movement and a little tranquillity.

The spa brought a change of pace: a space dedicated to treatments, relaxation and that much-needed time to yourself.

A cruise holiday can be about this too: slowing down, looking after yourself and letting the horizon become part of the experience.

From the theatre to the ice rink

We also visited the theatre and the ice-skating rink, two venues that show the range of entertainment on board.

The entertainment programme on Liberty of the Seas includes ice shows, bringing something a little unexpected to a holiday at sea. During this visit, we explored the venues rather than attending performances.

Between performance venues, music and different social spaces, there is a feeling that there is always another corner to discover.

We then passed through Casino Royale, for adults who enjoy that atmosphere, and the arcade, with games that appeal to younger travellers too.

Outside, the ship feels like a holiday waiting to happen

Out on deck, pools, sun loungers and whirlpools offered places to enjoy the sunshine, unwind and look out to sea.

For those who prefer a little adrenaline, there is plenty more to catch the eye. FlowRider, the on-board surf simulator, puts balance to the test. Above the decks, the waterslides add another dimension to the adventure:

Tidal Wave: a boomerang-style slide that sends a raft up an angled wall before it sweeps back down.

Typhoon and Cyclone: two twisting waterslides for those who enjoy a challenge.

Splashaway Bay: a water play area for younger guests, with slides, jets and plenty of splashing.

There is also a rock-climbing wall for a challenge with a little height. We visited these areas without trying the attractions.

Just imagining a waterslide with the open sea all around gives you a sense of the different memories a holiday like this could create.

Getting to know the ship to advise you better

This visit helped us discover Liberty of the Seas beyond the photographs: walking through its spaces, sampling the food and seeing how different holiday styles can share the same ship.

There is room for families looking for fun, couples hoping to unwind and travellers who enjoy combining destinations, good food and entertainment.

At DLN Travel, we believe first-hand knowledge makes a difference to the way we support each client. It helps us find a cruise that suits you, your pace and what you hope to experience on your travels.
