Royal Caribbean expands Lisbon departures in 2027 — including a solar eclipse cruise at sea

Pools and slides aboard Mariner of the Seas

In 2027, Lisbon features prominently in Royal Caribbean’s programme, with several departures aboard Mariner of the Seas. One special sailing combines Spain, Morocco and the opportunity to observe a solar eclipse at sea.

Starting a cruise without first taking a flight is an advantage many Portuguese travellers appreciate. In 2027, there are opportunities to board Mariner of the Seas directly in Lisbon, with departures on 27 May, 30 July, 16 September and 4 October.

A solar eclipse at sea

The standout departure is 30 July 2027: a 7-night cruise from Lisbon to Barcelona, calling at Tangier, Casablanca, Gibraltar, Cartagena and Palma de Mallorca. Royal Caribbean schedules the eclipse experience for day four, during a day at sea.

An open horizon makes this a distinctive way to experience an extraordinary natural event. Visibility depends on weather conditions; the itinerary and onboard arrangements remain subject to the cruise line’s operational decisions.

Portugal, Morocco and the Mediterranean

The 27 May and 16 September departures offer 9 nights, taking in Porto/Leixões, Madeira, Casablanca, Tangier and Málaga before reaching Barcelona.

The 4 October sailing lasts 10 nights and combines Madeira, Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Casablanca, Tangier and Palma de Mallorca, also ending in Barcelona.

For travellers who want to avoid a flight at the start of their holiday, embarking in Lisbon simplifies the first stage of the journey.

Pools, entertainment, dining, activities for different ages and spaces to relax make the ship part of the experience. Cabin options range from interior staterooms to balconies and suites, with availability and prices depending on the sailing.

A welcome option for Portuguese travellers

Families, couples and friends can begin close to home and discover several destinations in one trip. The eclipse sailing adds a rare experience to that journey.

These cruises end in Barcelona. Flights are not included. DLN Travel can arrange the return flight from Barcelona to Lisbon, transfers, insurance and extra nights, quoted separately.
